‘Fragile’ previews Cameron Whitcomb’s debut ‘The Hard Way’ due September 26, with Jack Riley production and a sold out run.
The sound and story of ‘Fragile’ introduce the mood of Cameron Whitcomb’s debut album. ‘The Hard Way’ arrives September 26 on Atlantic Records, and pre orders and pre saves are currently live. The single arrives first, positioning itself as Whitcomb’s most vulnerable release to date and pointing toward the reflections that drive the album.
“This record is every piece of who I am,” says Whitcomb. “And I sincerely hope you enjoy it.”
Across the project, Whitcomb looks straight at his path, naming early addiction, then charting recovery and the steps that followed into adulthood. ‘Fragile’ acts like a thesis statement, putting language to the push and pull of identity, pride, and change.
“‘Fragile’ is about being told to man up your whole childhood and pushing away everyone that cares because of your own insecurities,” shares Whitcomb. “It’s a song that came from a place of finally starting to understand why I was the way I was — and wanting to change that.”
Jack Riley produces the track, bringing a touch that aligns with work for Grace VanderWaal and Knox. The songwriting session includes Nolan Sipe and Cal Shapiro, connected to Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’. Together, they shape a piece that chases a universal truth, the hope of being loved fully, scars and all.
The live calendar frames the release window. Whitcomb steps onto the stage at Ontario’s Boots and Hearts Music Festival in a top billed slot. From there, he crosses to Europe for the sold out EU and UK dates on the Hundred Mile High Tour. He returns to begin the I’ve Got Options Tour on September 26 in Portland, Oregon, running through mid November. The momentum has already pushed most shows to sold out status, including a two night stop at LA’s Troubadour on October 4 and 5, with extra nights announced for Atlanta and Nashville.
‘Fragile’ sets the tone, while ‘The Hard Way’ promises the full portrait.
