Inside ‘Por Fa No Te Vayas’, Jay Wheeler explores bachata with Yeziell and Vasave, plus ‘Girasoles’ album highlights.

The craft behind ‘Por Fa No Te Vayas’ begins with a question of feeling. Jay Wheeler turns toward tropical rhythm and frames a bachata that captures both the ache of loss and the pull to keep love close. It is a move that places his romantic, refreshing side at the front and highlights his range as a multi platinum singer songwriter. Released under Dynamic Records, EMPIRE, the track is available on digital platforms worldwide.

This entry into bachata was born from watching other artists reach for tropical sounds and finding his own angle within that current. Jay Wheeler set the narrative around heartbreak and the desire that the person you pictured spending forever with will remain in your life. In his home studio, he heard a bachata structure produced by Yeziell and co written with Puerto Rican songwriter Vasave. With that base in place, he refined the song with his own style, shaping it into an intimate, melodic cut with the tropical air he wanted to explore.

“I wanted to do something tropical and different, to challenge myself with a style I hadn’t tried before. I had done salsa once, but I felt I still needed to do bachata. I never imagined it would turn out so special—honestly, it’s one of my favorite songs,” said Jay Wheeler.

At the same time, Jay Wheeler is opening windows into the larger story. The documentary ‘Girasoles: Desde La Raíz’, directed by Enrique (Emma) González and produced by Dynamic Records, follows the artist more closely and pairs directly with his album ‘Girasoles’, illuminating the creative journey behind each track.
