With the ‘tension’ EP, Haiden Henderson channels the weight of unresolved romance into powerful pop.
Pop newcomer Haiden Henderson captures the emotional aftermath of a complicated relationship on his new tension EP, out now on LAVA/Republic Records. Through eight deeply personal tracks, the project illustrates the nuances of romantic transformation and heartbreak.
“A friendship-turned-romantic stitches all of these songs together,” Haiden says. “It complicated my life. tension follows the arc of this situation becoming complicated and falling out. Since the relationship ended without closure, the songs are my way of getting my side of the story out. More than anything I’ve made in the past, there’s a journey within this project for anyone open to it.”
The EP includes previously released songs like “lovesucker,” “lips,” and “sweat,” but it’s the title track “tension” that pulls listeners into Haiden’s most honest space. Anchored by emotive vocals and subdued guitar tones, the song expresses the discomfort of proximity after a breakup: “You still live, down the street, we don’t speak, tension’s all I know.”
Haiden’s reputation continues to grow following his breakout single “hell of a good time,” which amassed 25 million streams. His prior EPs Good Grief and lover boy laid the groundwork for a strong sonic identity that blends raw emotion with infectious melodies.
After performing with artists like MICO and Landon Barker, Haiden is now preparing for his first-ever headline tour. Fans can expect an intimate show at The Garage in London this September, alongside a full North American run kicking off August 8.
