J Balvin drops ‘MIXTEIP’, a 10-track journey fusing reggaeton, trap, and salsa with powerful storytelling.
J Balvin has never been one to follow convention, and with MIXTEIP, he doubles down on experimentation. Released without warning, the 10-track album balances nostalgic tributes with bold reinvention—marking another forward leap in his global music journey.
At the heart of the project is “Zun Zun,” an explosive collaboration with Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavarez. The track’s video, shot in grainy ‘90s style, turns a house party into a tribute to reggaeton’s roots.
Another standout, “Misterio,” introduces salsa legend Gilberto Santa Rosa to the tracklist. His heartfelt narration—“Hermano, el amor no es siempre lo que parece…”—transforms the listening experience into something cinematic.
“MIXTEIP” thrives on genre fusion. Balvin’s performance on “Bruz Wein” is introspective and moody, while “Uuu” sees him go bar-for-bar with Stormzy. Elsewhere, softer touches emerge on “PQBL,” reflecting themes of love and memory.
Closing with “¿Dónde Está Jose?”, Balvin reflects on identity and legacy. Supported by earlier favorites like “KLK” and “Rio,” the album reads as a love letter to fans and a reassertion of his artistic freedom.
