Robin Cisek’s self-directed “Rumor” video explores digital distortion and personal reclamation.
In her latest artistic move, Robin Cisek has unveiled a self-made music video for “Rumor,” a song from her independently produced album Tempered. Blending minimalist imagery with profound commentary, the video showcases how technology can obscure, replace, or twist someone’s truth.
The concept was developed, shot, and edited entirely by Cisek, whose personal experience with anonymous online hate became the emotional foundation for this project.
“This video is my way of taking back control and reclaiming my identity,” Cisek explains. “So many people hide behind their devices, spreading rumours and tearing people down without any accountability. I wanted to turn that painful experience into something that feels empowering — something that reminds others that they’re not alone.”
In the visual, Cisek appears with a phone held over her mouth, the screen displaying lips singing her lyrics — a haunting metaphor for how internet culture can steal voices and misrepresent reality.
The song is part of Tempered, an album that was written entirely by Cisek and released on May 30. Built around themes of resilience and independence, the project was primarily produced in her home studio, further solidifying her hands-on creative approach.
“Rumor” captures a turning point in Cisek’s journey — one where emotional clarity meets artistic control. Her blend of vulnerability and precision turns a deeply personal theme into a broader message of empowerment.
The video isn’t just an accompaniment to the song — it’s an extension of the narrative, offering an emotionally rich interpretation of what it means to reclaim one’s voice in a digital world.
