Actress and cultural voice Idia Aisien will step into the spotlight on the UK stage for the first time this June with her role in Dear Father. The play, running from June 12–14 at Woolwich Works’ Fireworks Factory, marks a new phase in the career of an actress known for combining grace, intelligence, and emotional depth.
Aisien stars alongside Nollywood legends Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Kunle Remi, and Tobi Bakre. The play explores intergenerational love, the lasting effects of parental bonds, and the sobering rise of femicide in the UK.
“This role came at a time when I was personally reflecting on the importance of the relationships that shape us—especially those with our parents, ” Aisien shared. “Dear Father is more than a play; it’s a statement about love, loss, and the role fathers play in helping their daughters find their voice.”
A former model and presenter, Aisien’s shift into acting was cemented with her acclaimed performance in Nneka the Pretty Serpent, a remake of a Nollywood classic. Her nuanced portrayal drew attention from critics and audiences alike.
Dear Father marks a significant new platform for the actress, who has long used her voice to uplift African culture and challenge conventional narratives. Now, her presence in the UK theatre space further solidifies that mission.
