Tanner Adell channels a personal journey of adoption and identity into her latest release, “Going Blonde.”
Tanner Adell showcases remarkable depth and songwriting maturity in her latest single “Going Blonde,” a deeply emotional and autobiographical track that marks her first release of 2025. Known for her bold presence and viral energy, Adell takes a more introspective turn, sharing the truth behind her adoption story.
“Going Blonde” was written alone on a Nashville barstool after Adell learned the truth about her past through a DNA test from her adoptive parents. That connection led her to her biological brother—and the news that her birth mother had passed away, unraveling the narrative she’d carried for years.
“I’m really putting my heart out there to be completely examined,” she says. “It’s been five years since my brother found me. I think I’m still learning things and I’m definitely still grieving.”
A photo of her mother—blonde and stunning—sparked an emotional bond and a connection to Dolly Parton’s “Dumb Blonde.” That moment gave new meaning to Adell’s own hair color and ultimately inspired the song’s title and message.
Adell recently detailed the story behind “Going Blonde” in a heartfelt three-part video series on social media. It’s the beginning of a new chapter as she works toward her debut album, blending vulnerability with the strength fans know and admire.
From her C2C Festival performance in the UK to a standout moment at the GLAAD Awards and her upcoming Billboard Women In Music appearance, Adell’s trajectory continues to soar—with storytelling now at its heart.
