Whitney Whitney’s EP ‘1.1’ marks her pop debut with personal lyrics and orchestral soundscapes.
Newcomer Whitney Whitney makes a striking debut with 1.1, a project that captures her poetic approach to pop through lush instrumentation and vivid storytelling. Released via Atlantic Records, the EP lays the foundation for a full conceptual series to come.
1.1 introduces Whitney’s world—a space where string sections, candid verses, and theatrical composition intersect. Drawing inspiration from a broad palette that includes Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, and Elton John, the EP presents a sound both personal and bold.
Leading the tracklist is “Touching You,” a song written from an imaginative place:
“‘Touching You’ is a song about falling in love again… But I wanted to channel what it must feel like…”
The track arrives with a visualizer on YouTube, offering a first glimpse into Whitney’s cinematic lens. She describes the EP’s creation as highly fulfilling:
“Writing this EP was one of the most fun and rewarding things I’ve ever done… It’s so many things at once that all mean so much to me.”
Raised between Connecticut and Manhattan, Whitney spent her youth immersed in poetry, theater, and classic songwriting. Now based in Los Angeles, she’s worked closely with producer Justin Lucas to finalize a sound that feels spontaneous yet structured—like an emotional freehand sketch turned into symphony.
1.1 is more than a debut—it’s an introduction to a new pop voice shaped by depth, detail, and imagination.
