With her new single “Kid,” singer-songwriter Tanis delivers a soulful reminder of the emotional complexities that come with growing older. Known for blending her multicultural upbringing into her art, Tanis opens a window into her internal world with this expressive release.
In “Kid,” she confronts the loss of innocence and the contrast between childhood and adulthood. Her lyrics are both raw and reflective, especially in the poignant line: “It used to be cute when I was foolish, but no one forgives my actions now.” The song brings to light the pressures of maturity, and the wish to momentarily step back into more carefree days.
