Pop Innovator Sorana Redefines Stardom with Music, Fashion, and Electric Vocals

From songwriting to light-up wigs, Sorana is reshaping what it means to be an artist.

Romanian-born pop powerhouse Sorana is breaking boundaries and reshaping what it means to be an artist in the digital age. With a voice as electric as neon, a futuristic aesthetic, and a track record of penning era-defining hits, Sorana has swiftly emerged as one of the most daring and magnetic forces in global music.  Outside of music, Sorana is building her fashion design portfolio, including handmade costumes and her one-of-a-kind light-up wigs

“In 2021, I came up with the idea of having hair that lights up, something I had never seen anyone else do,” says Sorana. “I teamed up with LA-based prop designer and builder Tom Talmon to bring this vision to life. We worked on it for six months, and to keep costs down, I ended up sewing the wig myself. It turned out to be a really fulfilling project—we had to invent a new method for making a fiber optic wig that looked realistic while also holding space for powerful flashlights that could light up the entire thing.”

Sorana explains, “I’ve always been attracted to fashion and the visual aspect of being an artist. My biggest inspiration comes from my favorite anime and favorite character, Sailor Moon, which I fell in love with as a child. I like to combine the look of anime with cyberpunk aesthetic to create an outer worldly aesthetic for my project. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the digital world as I feel like we live in it more than in reality. Visually, my goal is for people to find my socials and wonder if I’m AI-generated or a real human being, and actually, a lot of people comment on my posts asking that exact question. I love AI fashion as well, and I would love to collaborate with some artists to make some digital fashion merch.”

“Because I love everything custom, I started working with my favorite designer from Romania, CONSTANTINE, to create unique outfits for my artist project. We designed outfits together, and we also designed the first samples for my merch. I wanted to push the boundaries of artist merch, and instead of making t-shirts with my face printed on them, I decided to make these super oversized hoodies with my logo spray-painted all over them, which I’m going to drop soon,” Sorana reveals.

As a child, Sorana studied classical piano, a foundation that proved invaluable in her journey toward becoming a songwriter and artist. From an early age, she was drawn to voices that stood out—full of character and individuality—citing Michael Jackson, Sia, and Lana Del Rey as major influences, and over time, incorporated elements of techno, hardstyle, rave music, house, and pop, among others.  Visually, the bold and avant-garde aesthetics of early Lady Gaga left a lasting impression, inspiring her to push creative boundaries and develop a unique personal style. Sorana’s earliest beginnings in Transylvania —where her creativity was first spotlighted in beauty pageants, television appearances, and band performances— has grown into an international phenomenon. Today, she boasts over 5 billion streams worldwide, multiple Platinum records across the U.S., U.K., and Korea, and more than 5 million physical records sold. Her collaborations include a #1 airplay hit with David Guetta in the Netherlands and a major brand campaign with Alan Walker for Fatal Fury: City of Wolves.

As a songwriter, Sorana’s pen has left an indelible mark on a generation of music. She has co-written global hits for The Chainsmokers, Charli XCX, Jennie, Ava Max, Doechii, Illenium, Little Mix, and more—tracks like Takeaway and Heartbreak Anthem have become cultural milestones, earning multi-platinum certifications and dominating international charts.

But Sorana is not content to remain behind the curtain. In 2022, she burst onto the global stage as a solo artist with redruM, her explosive collaboration with Guetta, which revealed her rare vocal intensity and cinematic edge. She followed in 2023 with her independent debut EP, Techno Sexual, an anime-inspired, cyberpunk exploration of digital intimacy. Tracks like Sailor Moon showcased her signature mix of bold storytelling and boundary-pushing futurism.

In 2025, Sorana doubled down with her sophomore release, Techno Sexual (Even More Sexual), a fearless project that expanded her creative vision and cemented her status as a trailblazing solo artist. Alongside the EP, Sorana launched a unique iPod campaign aiming to reflect the pros and cons of being different in today’s world. She uploaded the EP to personalized iPods as part of a “treasure hunt,”  striving to push  individuality and self-expression, challenging societal norms, and inspiring fans to embrace their uniqueness proudly. That same year, she reunited with Alan Walker for Mind of a Warrior, the official anthem for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, uniting music, gaming, and cinematic storytelling in a cultural crossover moment.

“I’ve always believed music should feel like entering another world,” says Sorana. “For me, it’s about creating something immersive—where sound, fashion, and digital culture all collide.”

With billions of streams, multiple platinum records, and performances on some of the world’s most iconic stages, Sorana continues to shape not only the sound of modern pop but its future. A cyber-anointed trailblazer, she invites fans into a universe where vulnerability, rebellion, and fantasy collide—standing boldly at the edge of pop’s next frontier.
