SHIMA Tackles Identity and Legacy in Bilingual Single “THE MYTH OF KAMIKAZE”

SHIMA SHIMA

SHIMA’s haunting new track blends English and Japanese in a layered, cinematic sound journey.

Electronic artist SHIMA shares her new single ‘THE MYTH OF KAMIKAZE (神風の神話)’, continuing the journey toward her upcoming debut album Welcome To SHIMAJIMA, set to arrive September 26 via Young Art Records

‘THE MYTH OF KAMIKAZE (神風の神話)’ embodies the sonic storytelling that is a pillar of SHIMA’s signature, while channeling historical and geopolitical themes that give her music its distinctive, cross-cultural identity. The bilingual song weaves SHIMA’s powerful vocals interchanging between English and Japanese over a delicate piano melody and warlike drum builds. Evolving over its three and a half minutes, ‘THE MYTH OF KAMIKAZE (神風の神話)’ unfolds with emotional harmonies, textured breaks, and dreamy guitar climax.

‘THE MYTH OF KAMIKAZE (神風の神話)’ joins previous singles ‘Maitake’, ‘EIYAA’, ‘INVISIBLE’ ‘KARMA’, ‘AWA’, and ‘1807’, further expanding the world of Welcome To SHIMAJIMA. The forthcoming 10-track full-length is a biopic journey through the eyes and ears of a global wanderer, bridging SHIMA’s Japanese roots with her forward-thinking, genre-defying sound.
