“Rein Me In” gets a rework from Sam Fender and Olivia Dean, blending two rising voices in UK music.
Sam Fender’s poignant track “Rein Me In” has found new life in a collaborative re-release featuring Olivia Dean. The British artists have come together to offer a duet version of the track, incorporating Dean’s own lyrics and vocal arrangements in a way that breathes new perspective into the original.
The re-recorded version marks Fender’s first duet since his 2023 collaboration with Noah Kahan and serves as a creative milestone for both artists. “If I collaborate with another artist… I prefer they write a new part and make it their own,” Fender noted. “Olivia added a female perspective… and I think it’s all the better for it.”
Dean’s admiration for Fender’s original version is evident. “‘Rein Me In’ is my favourite song on Sam’s album,” she said. “So it was a pleasure to write a new verse… I’m so pleased we got to work together on this duet.”
The duo shared the stage at London Stadium earlier this month in front of a roaring 80,000 fans, delivering the debut live performance of the duet to huge acclaim. Video footage from that show, directed by Daniel Broadley, has been used in the official music video release.
Fender is currently in the middle of a busy summer tour schedule, bringing People Watching to audiences across the UK and Europe. He will return to North America for another string of dates before heading to Australia later this year.
