Sadie Jean delivers an empowering anthem of self-realization and release.
The song and accompanying video show Sadie finally ready to throw in the towel and walk away after spending years waiting for somebody to make a move.
Steeped in heartbreak and resignation, the guitar-driven track highlights Sadie’s songwriting chops and ability to make you mourn an ex you never had. On the new song, Sadie shares, “I used to glorify the ‘slow burn romance,’ it was my favorite trope in movies, books, and tv shows. But after being stuck in a ‘will-they-won’t-they’ for the past 3 years, I’ve discovered that the yearning and waiting and reading into every subtle glance is actually super miserable and overrated. In fact, I think it’s called a slow burn because it just slowly kills you, and that’s the feeling that inspired me to write this song.”
“Slow Burn” follows recently released tracks “I Tried” and “The One That I Want (But I Don’t Know Why),” which have quickly become fan favorites and received critical praise from NYLON, Entertainment Tonight, Ones to Watch, and more. These are the first releases from Sadie since Simple Like 17 (Deluxe), which was released last May and features RIAA Gold-Certified track “WYD Now?” along with hits “Locksmith” and “Just Because.”
This November, Sadie is headed on the road for a 20-date European headline run. This follows her first-ever headline tour last year, which saw her play to sold-out crowds across the U.S., U.K., and Europe.
Sadie has more in store for 2025 – stay tuned!
