Rohin’s second EP reveals raw emotion and introspection in a genre-bending rock atmosphere.
Alternative rock newcomer Rohin releases his sophomore EP, As The Light Fades today via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The dynamic collection of songs showcase Rohin’s impressive vocals and musicality, while telling the stories of the complexities of self-discovery at a time where the society itself is strained.
On the EP, Rohin notes: “I am so proud of this project – I believe it is my best work yet, and my most intentional. It’s about the ending of eras and trying to find catharsis in that crisis.”
As The Light Fades explores coming of age and entering adulthood at a moment where the world feels as though it’s coming undone. It captures the chaotic moments of intense adolescent divisiveness, uncertainty, and the search for catharsis and meaning in the early years of adulthood.
Comprised of five tracks, As The Light Fades introduces fans to three new songs including, “Chinatown in the Rain”, an explosively nostalgic track that feels like a fleeting ‘90s grunge romance. The song depicts a generation of youth navigating a decomposing city and society all the while looking for themselves, their purpose, and for love.
“Trueblue” tells a story of short term romance turned long term addiction. It depicts the feeling of falling into someone so quickly and intensely, and how that purity is so hard to maintain as lives change. Rohin tells the tale of unexpectedly meeting someone, falling for them, and it ultimately not working out. In the song he questions if he handled the situation well and the lasting affect it made on him for the years to come.
Final track “Rosa” touches on the parallels that could be drawn between our current moment and the worst times in our collective history. The song captures the overwhelmingly contradictive feeling of falling in love despite the uncertainty of the world around us.
As The Light Fades also includes the previously released singles, “Someday” and “Sundown.” On “Sundown” Rohin touches on the feelings that surround a complicated relationship with someone who is emotionally unavailable. “Sundown” encapsulates the feelings of confusion, desperation and love in a state where passion can lead to situations in which emotions take over and actions become reactionary opposed to intentional.
“Someday” explores the feelings that arise when you are entering adulthood and feel stuck while trying to define yourself amidst the chaotic world around you. The accompanying music video captures the emotional intensity of young adulthood and the sense of hopelessness that we often face while trying to make our way into the world.
The brand new EP serves as follow up to Rohin’s debut EP follow me down released in 2024. The EP featured standout track “Sadlove” released in conjunction with an accompanying video and live acoustic.
