Ria Rua shares her new alt-rock single “I Love That For You,” a haunting anthem about self-expression and individuality. Watch the video now.

Alt-rock artist and producer Ria Rua begins the year with her deeply personal single, “I Love That For You.” The new track, accompanied by a striking music video, blends introspective melodies with industrial textures to explore the universal challenge of staying true to oneself in a world that often demands compromise.

Ria shares her personal journey behind the song: “As a teenager music consumed me, but everyone around me thought my best option was to settle down, work at a shop, and marry a local farmer. It took years of constant struggle, with myself and with family and friends, to come to terms with my truth—I can only be happy being myself and living my life in a way that feels true to me. This song is about that journey, from fear to freedom.”

Growing up in rural Meath, Ireland, Ria found refuge in music during a time when she often felt like an outsider. From her early days as a drummer to her rise as a bold alt-rock artist, she has carved a path of self-discovery that resonates with neurodivergent and queer communities.

Her recent singles, “You’ll Only Like Me When I’m Dead” and “I Want You,” have earned critical acclaim, landing spots on Spotify’s New Music Friday and An Alternative Future playlists and receiving airplay across Ireland, the UK, Germany, and the US. Highlights from her career include supporting Soda Blonde at Dublin’s Vicar Street and headlining the 2023 Musictown Festival.

With her debut album on the way, “I Love That For You” offers a glimpse of what’s to come from Ria Rua, reaffirming her place as a fearless voice in the alt-rock genre.
