The band drops a 10-song record alongside a stunning Red Rocks live video.
The genre-bending group unveiled the 10-track album today via Atlantic Records. Along with the album, the band shared a stunning performance of new track “Tropics” from their sold-out show at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre earlier this month.
From the powerful, emotive opening of “Friendly Fire” to the triumphant exhale of “Tropics,” bones is the product of a band in perfect harmony with one another. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winner Jay Joyce (Cage The Elephant, Orville Peck, Lainey Wilson), who worked with RKS on 2018’s HOW TO: FRIEND, LOVE, FREEFALL, the record pays homage to the band’s indie-rock roots while adding new layers that elevate it to an entirely new level. On the new music, frontwoman Ela Melo shares, “With ‘bones’ we were trying to reconnect with our fans and our roots as a rock n roll band in a new way. This record is representative of the 13 years that we’ve spent touring and making music together, and it’s one of our most cohesive to date. Here’s ‘bones.’”
The new album follows last year’s LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX, which was released to widespread critical acclaim from Consequence, Paste, SPIN, Billboard, and more. The record was also the band’s first album in 6 years, following How to: Friend, Love, Freefall, which has seen massive growth over the last few months, with hit track “It’s Called: Freefall” even being played in the latest season of Ginny & Georgia and reaching #1 on the Billboard TV Songs Chart. 
The new record comes in the midst of Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s massive Thanks For Coming Tour, which has seen the band headline amphitheatres across North America, including a sold-out stop at Morrison’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, notably marking the band’s fourth time selling out the venue. For the tour, the band launched the Rainbow Kitten Surprise Fund, created in collaboration with PLUS1, which will donate $1 from every ticket sold to promoting equality by way of LGBTQ+ rights, mental health care access, and supporting food sovereignty. Since 2019, the band’s charitable donations have surpassed $420,000. Next year, the band will also be headed to Australia for a series of headline dates and supporting Ocean Alley followed by a series of UK and Ireland shows.
