Rising dark electronic artist Poni has released her highly anticipated Hellscape EP, marking her debut on HypnoVizion. The three-track project, now streaming on all platforms, blends haunting melodies, midtempo bass, and rich gothic storytelling to explore themes of despair, vengeance, and heartbreak.
Each track on Hellscape showcases Poni’s artistry alongside talented collaborators. Twin sister duo Satin Puppets bring their distinct sound to “Leeches,” while Nashville singer-songwriter Notelle delivers evocative vocals on “Leave You in the Dark.” Poni herself takes center stage on “Conceptual Reality,” adding her voice to a chilling narrative woven through the EP.
Poni describes the inspiration behind Hellscape: “Calamitous times and places that are void of hope, Hellscape tells a story of three vastly unpleasant circumstances. Vengeance and how the murdered haunts the murderer. Heartbreak and being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist, ultimately leaving them to ruin their own lives. Despair and how lost and brainwashed society is. All of which are tied together by the sinister workings of Apep, the demon of darkness and destruction (my reimagination). Is there really no hope though? That’s up for interpretation.”
