Novulent shares his new EP BEFORE EVOLUTION, featuring the cinematic single “death wish.” Stream it now via Capitol Records.
Novulent, the 20-year-old rising star, has released his new EP, BEFORE EVOLUTION, via Capitol Records. The project offers a bold and emotional exploration of relationships and growth, showcasing Novulent’s evolution as an artist.
Among the three tracks, “death wish” stands out as a cinematic depiction of a toxic relationship. Featuring New Zealand-based artist whatsaheart, the song contrasts vivid storytelling with atmospheric production. “The premise behind ‘death wish’ is a toxic relationship but very exaggerated, in order to be cinematic,” Novulent shares. “Your emotions are heightened, and it feels like a death wish.”
The EP coincides with the final leg of Novulent’s debut headline Evolution Tour, which included sold-out shows in Chicago, Los Angeles, and more. The tour will wrap with performances in Houston, Dallas, and New York City, with the last stop at Mercury Lounge on February 1.
From his breakout track “scars”—which has earned over 111 million Spotify streams—to his current work, Novulent’s blend of hard rock, shoegaze, and Midwest emo continues to captivate fans. Reflecting on the release, Novulent says, “This EP is not only about emotional vulnerability but also about how I’ve grown as an artist.”
