Niko Rubio’s “Quisiera Saber” offers vulnerability and Spanish guitar ahead of her “Ring Ring” EP release.
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Niko Rubio shares an emotional moment from her upcoming Spanish EP Ring Ring with the release of “Quisiera Saber”, out now via Atlantic Records. The single arrives alongside an official music video and continues to build anticipation for the EP’s June 24 release.
Rubio explains the song’s emotional weight: “‘Quisiera Saber’ is the saddest song on the EP. It says, ‘I wish I knew how to help you and take away all the pain, if you would let me.’ I tried to be as vulnerable as possible for this project.”
A collaboration with producer Lester Mendez, Ring Ring is shaped by Rubio’s personal experiences and her California/Mexico cultural influences. The project follows the title track “Ring Ring,” a sun-kissed blend of jazzy vocals, reggae grooves, and bold brass that Rubio co-wrote with Mike Rincon and Julian Bernal.
Describing her process, Rubio says, “Sonically inspired by the California beaches and trips to Mexico City, my second Spanish EP Ring Ring, might be my favorite project I’ve ever made.”
She invites fans to experience it with intention: “If u chose to listen to this EP the old fashioned way then you’ll have to find a body of water, grab a margarita, and your closest friends. Also don’t forget to wear sunscreen!!”
A release show will be held at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on June 24.
