The single fires off a bass-driven groove stacked with retro-infused production.
“We first met Honey & Badger during the chaos of a Miami Music Week party in 2024” shares the LA-based duo, NIIKO X SWAE; “A few months later, he flew out from Brussels to Los Angeles and hit us up for a studio session. It was our first real time hanging out together, and it naturally took a minute to land on the right idea in the studio. After bouncing ideas back and forth, Honey & Badger pulled up a vocal sample from the early 90s that had raw, nostalgic rave energy. The production followed with heavy rave stabs and fat-sounding drums, paying homage to the era of the original track. That one clicked instantly for us, and the track was essentially finished in one sitting.”
The producers add; “Beyond the music, the real magic came from the strong bond formed during this session. ‘Automatic’ takes us back to that unique moment where lifelong friendships are made,whether in the studio or on the dancefloor.”
NIIKO X SWAE have dominated the Dim Mak airwaves in 2025, first with “Drop It Low,” and then with “International Party Girl” – both singles that feel equal parts progressive and nostalgic. “Automatic” feels just the same, proving the duo can pull from their 90s influences, while still making music that is perfectly at home in 2025.
