mgk’s latest single “cliché” debuts with an MTV takeover, vintage visuals, and a teaser for his next album.

mgk has released his new single “cliché,” a bright, alt-pop anthem with a nostalgic core, co-written and produced with frequent collaborators SlimXX, BazeXX, and Nick Long. The song and music video premiered across MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop, and Times Square billboards.

Earlier this week, a pre-save campaign launched on his website, teasing the title of mgk’s next album—building anticipation ahead of this new chapter.

Directed by Sam Cahill and choreographed by Sean Bankhead, the “cliché” video blends cinematic style with mgk’s playful edge. With a strong influence from the ‘90s and early 2000s, the visuals add dimension to a song that’s both emotionally raw and infectiously upbeat.

Leading into the release, mgk dropped reinterpreted covers of “Iris” (Goo Goo Dolls), “Empty Out Your Pockets” (Juice WRLD), and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” (Green Day), previewing his evolving musical mindset.

He’ll also headline the 30th Anniversary Vans Warped Tour in Washington, DC, and Orlando, FL — continuing to merge his punk roots with a mainstream pop impact.

“cliché” arrives following two chart-topping albums — Tickets to My Downfall and mainstream sellout — both of which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with multiple Platinum singles and a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.
