The magnetic artist blends R&B power with bold visuals directed by Jasper Soloff.

Blending drill and trap-inspired production with pop/R&B-infused vocals, “Hater” showcases Ellis’s signature sound in a bold new way. Co-written by Ellis and produced by Reach (whose work has earned over 8.6 million global streams), the track cuts through with a sharp message about spotting a friend’s ill intentions and rising above fake friendships and hidden agendas.

On the track Maria says, “I’m so excited to share this track with you. It includes elements of trap pop production and cheeky lyrics. The song is about realizing someone close to you actually doesn’t like you. Everyone’s dealt with fake friends and this song perfectly encapsulates how good it feels to cut them off!”

With acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone and nearly 6 million views across platforms, the rising Berklee grad is quickly carving a lane of her own. “Hater” follows recent single “I Like Me (When I’m Loving You)” and the May debut of her EP Ultrabaddie, an 8-track project inspired by her favorite female artists and exploring themes of empowerment, love, and loss through a vibrant blend of pop, R&B, and electronic production.
