Mae Muller makes a triumphant return with her new single “Breakaway,” marking a fresh chapter in her career as an independent artist. The song is her first release in over a year and serves as a vibrant reintroduction to her ever-evolving artistry.
Written by Mae and produced by Herik Michelsen, “Breakaway” fuses electronic club influences with signature pop elements. Vocoded vocals float over a propulsive rhythm and glitchy textures, while Mae’s heartfelt lyricism delivers a narrative of personal rediscovery.
“I wrote Breakaway in a time when I felt quite lost as an artist,” Mae explains. “I was putting so much pressure on myself with my newfound independence… It’s about navigating vulnerability, but also finding my power within it, whilst not losing the joy along the way.” 
The single’s music video—directed by Ben Cole (Kylie, Mahalia)—brings the track’s themes to life with haunting visuals and a hypnotic pace, reflecting both freedom and reflection.
