Mabel shares a deeply personal mixtape with “Turn Me Up” as a standout track capturing emotional honesty.
UK pop mainstay Mabel makes a compelling return with her self-titled mixtape, a 9-track release that marks her most revealing work to date. The project is available now via Polydor Records and showcases a creative freedom that Mabel says she’s been rediscovering.
Featuring collaborations with producer Oscar Scheller and rapper Clavish, the mixtape stretches across styles, anchored by its emotional vulnerability. Recorded largely in Mabel’s own studio, the release feels as personal in production as it does in lyrical content.
Of the project, Mabel shares: “This mixtape being self-titled is an important moment for me because it feels like a reintroduction…When writing it I reflected a lot on my ten years in the industry…”
Leading the release is “Turn Me Up,” a track layered with dreamy guitars and deep, rhythmic percussion. The production from Oscar Scheller provides a moody foundation for Mabel’s introspective lyrics.
Mabel continues: “This track is definitely my favourite on the mixtape. It’s about the imperfect side of relationships and meeting your match for better or for worse!”
From “Benz” ft. Clavish to “January 19,” each track holds a distinct place in the overarching narrative of rediscovery. The mixtape draws from her earlier work while pushing into more experimental territory—offering a full-circle moment for fans and new listeners alike.
