“Lipstick” by Luvcat is a bold dive into desire and power, paired with a theatrical video inspired by childhood fantasy.
Rising star Luvcat returns with “Lipstick,” a sultry new single that explores the intoxicating blend of power, play, and surrender. Fresh off her EU tour, Luvcat spins a lyrical and visual web—equal parts macabre fantasy and emotional release.
“Lipstick is a song about love and kink,” she says. “The desire to please and feel like a little doll to be played with but shown tenderness and devotion in equal measure.”
The man who inspired the song by calling her “doll” later joined the track as drummer, adding another layer of intimacy to the project. The Luvcat/Ollie Bradley-Baker–directed video is a surrealist homage to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s “Doll on a Music Box.”
“I used to dress up as her as a kid… a wind-up doll come to life to terrorize the town,” says Luvcat.
The track follows a string of hits including “He’s My Man” and “Love and Money,” which together with “Matador” have earned her 25 million+ streams and a devoted following. Rolling Stone UK, The Independent, NME, and Dork have all tipped her as a 2025 breakout.
Luvcat has over 30 festivals lined up, from Glastonbury to Reading & Leeds, plus NY and LA underplays this month and two mysterious pop-ups, including a watch party for “Lipstick” in LA.
