LIZ unveils “SUNSCREEN” | SOPHIE collab is a sun-soaked tribute years in the making | Now streaming
After years of whispers, leaks, and fan speculation, the unreleased collaboration between LIZ and the late pop innovator SOPHIE has finally arrived. “SUNSCREEN,” now available on all streaming platforms, is the first single from LIZ’s upcoming full-length album—and it signals a powerful return for one of underground pop’s most genre-defying voices.
Initially recorded in 2018 at SOPHIE’s Nichols Canyon studio, “SUNSCREEN” lived as an internet legend for years—shared in DJ circles and buried in YouTube links, building a cult following of its own. Now, the track is officially completed in collaboration with SOPHIE’s brother Benny Long and renowned vocal engineer Suzy Shinn.
The track is more than just a nostalgic release. It’s a polished, sun-drenched pop anthem that merges SOPHIE’s futuristic touch with LIZ’s candy-coated, early-2000s-inspired edge. Its release coincides with a stunning music video filmed in Mykonos, Greece—brought to life by director James Orlando from a concept originally imagined by SOPHIE and Renata Raksha.
To commemorate the release, a limited-edition vinyl of “SUNSCREEN” is being issued—celebrating the 10-year milestone since LIZ and SOPHIE’s first collaboration on the cult hit “When I Rule the World.”
Over the past decade, LIZ has carved out a distinct space in pop, blending mainstream gloss with underground credibility. Praised by artists like Diplo and Kim Petras and supported by platforms across the globe, she continues to shape what’s next in pop’s evolution.
With the creative backing of 444 Sounds, “SUNSCREEN” not only honors SOPHIE’s memory but reintroduces LIZ as a leading voice in boundary-pushing pop.
