LALA HAYDEN shares “beast,” an intimate final chapter to her new alt-pop EP “viva venus”, out now.
Alt-pop riser LALA HAYDEN caps off her luminous new EP viva venus with the emotionally raw single “beast,” available now. A London/Barcelona-based songwriter and performer, LALA continues to craft bold, emotionally complex soundscapes that reflect the inner life of women navigating love in a digitized world.
“‘beast’ felt like a moment where all my guards are down,” LALA says. “I usually sit more in the bratty space, but this track needed to show vulnerability. It’s a window into my head on a down day.”
viva venus marks a striking moment in LALA’s career, reflecting sonic influence from pop and electronic icons including Robyn, Madonna, and Jessie Ware. The EP is a tightly woven four-song journey, where love, digital identity, and emotional survival are explored through glistening synths and grounded lyricism.
The EP’s opener “honeymoon suite,” co-written with Sam McTrusty and Ross McNae (Twin Atlantic), mixes sweetness and shadow as it dives into lovesick codependency. “rush of love,” created with Armin Metz (Imogen Heap), blends euphoria with longing, while “baby you’re the best!” presents emotional neglect through a synth-laden haze.
“The EP is a love letter to Venus — the goddess of love, sex, fertility and victory,” says LALA. “I wanted to explore what she might look like now — navigating modern love and self-worth in a digital world.”
With acclaim from NME, Vogue, and a run of major European festivals, LALA HAYDEN’s viva venus is a confident, conceptual triumph. “beast” closes the EP with vulnerability, power, and purpose.
