“Useless,” the new single from Kassidy, captures the pain of emotional imbalance. Music video arrives May 30.
Pop-soul singer Kassidy offers a vulnerable and relatable new track with the release of “Useless,” out now on Universal Music Canada. The song captures the all-too-familiar feeling of giving more than you receive—whether from friends or a romantic partner.
“‘Useless’ was inspired by friends who don’t reach out anymore or won’t make the time or effort the way they used to,” says Kassidy. “It’s about that feeling of always being the one to reach out.”
While initially written about platonic disconnect, the lyrics evolved to take on broader meaning.
“Somewhere along the way in the writing process, I realized that this concept could also be fitting for a romantic relationship where one of the partners is feeling let down or used.”
To accompany the single, Kassidy will release a music video on May 30, presenting a visual story of emotional imbalance in a relationship. Additionally, a live performance video will debut on his social platforms, showcasing JaRon Marshall (Black Pumas) on keys, offering a stripped-back version that amplifies the track’s emotion.
As Kassidy prepares to release more music, connect with new audiences, and hit the stage in 2025, his voice is quickly becoming one of pop-soul’s most refreshing new sounds—balancing vulnerability with strength.
