Joe Average Tap the Pulse of Their Past on New Single “Panic Buttons”

Thirty-five years later, UK electronic act Joe Average drop “Panic Buttons”—a revival rooted in fate.

Joe Average have reignited the flame with their new track “Panic Buttons”, released July 8, 2025. The Brighton-based electronic group, composed of original members Rich, Mad Mick, and Prof, deliver a track that’s both a tribute to their rave roots and a bold reentry into today’s music scene.

The band’s journey dates back to 1990, when they performed under the name Joshua Cry’s Wolf, commanding stages at iconic London venues like the Hammersmith Palais. Their underground hit “Infinity (Time for the Guru)” showcased their vibrant mix of live instruments and electronic intensity.

The unexpected catalyst for their return? A surreal reunion on Friday the 13th of October 2023, precisely 34 years since their last gig. “It was like the universe was telling us to finish what we started,” says Rich. What followed was a journey to reconnect with Prof—miraculously found wearing his original rave attire from 1989.

Produced by Rich, “Panic Buttons” includes his live drums, Prof’s textured keyboard layers, and Mad Mick’s distinctive saxophone work. The track also introduces a fresh voice—Faber, who delivers a fierce, soulful vocal performance that ties past and present.

For Rich, this comeback is personal. After a motorcycle crash halted his drumming, he pivoted to entrepreneurship—building a renowned motorcycle exhaust company and constructing his own home. But music remained his passion. With “Panic Buttons,” Joe Average are not just reminiscing—they’re reintroducing themselves.
