With the release of their latest single, “You Don’t Know,” emerging pop act Jake & Shelby lean into the sweet ache of secret affection. Marking a slight stylistic shift, the track presents a slicker pop sheen without losing their earnest songwriting core.
“‘You Don’t Know’ is about something we’ve all had… A crush,” the duo explains. “It feels like all you can do is think about that person. But the funny part is that they don’t even know.”
The production breaks away from their guitar-centric norm, opting for a bouncy synth-forward sound that aligns with the song’s flirtatious, upbeat nature. “We built it around synths and drums before blending in our signature acoustic sound,” they reveal.
