iyla releases creative visual for “Corset,” part of her August 8 debut album ‘Weeping Angel’.
With a bold creative vision, rising artist iyla presents the music video for “Corset,” her latest single ahead of the debut album Weeping Angel, out August 8. As both the song’s lead performer and visual architect, iyla commands attention in this cinematic project.
Working alongside director Justin Moser, iyla infused the video with elements from the Weeping Angel album cover, creating an atmospheric visual full of tension and beauty. The video also showcases striking makeup by Sasha Glasser and Raylene Guzmán, and dramatic fashion styling by Carlos Aviles.
Produced by longtime collaborator Kadis, “Corset” explores the emotional intensity of a relationship defined by closeness and discomfort — wrapped up in metaphors that cut deep.
The visual release arrives in tandem with the announcement of Weeping Angel, a 13-track body of work born from personal tragedy and healing. Following the loss of her mother, iyla created the project as a tribute and personal statement.
“I always made music from my soul,” she explains. “But over the years, I’ve come to realize… I’ve attained a level of confidence I didn’t have before.”
“Corset” stands as a bold and moving preview of what’s to come. With raw honesty, artistic control, and visual storytelling at its core, iyla’s Weeping Angel is shaping up to be a defining release.
