The rising talent explores identity and artistry on her latest independent EP.
Building on the confessional intimacy of her debut, The Abysmal EP, hannah, now 21, offers a strikingly mature and sonically unified body of work that delves into the complexities of identity, vulnerability, and self-perception.
Written across continents and recorded primarily in Los Angeles, The Misunderstood EP thrives on contrast–balancing softness with intensity, vulnerability with control, and intimacy with a sense of scope. The seven-track EP reflects hannah’s evolution both personally and creatively, inviting listeners into a sonic world where genre takes a back seat to feeling.
That evolution is palpable throughout the record. From the shimmering angst of the title track “MISUNDERSTOOD” to the ethereal push and pull of “Orchid / Flame“–a track born from two distinct compositions that found unexpected harmony when performed back to back–the EP explores what it means to feel disconnected from others, and more significantly, from yourself. hannah describes the project as a journey toward self-understanding, grounded in the realization that clarity can’t be outsourced.
From string arrangements and vocal comping to visual direction, hannah was involved in every step of the process, working closely with longtime collaborator Andrew Luce (Role Model, iann dior) to bring her vision to life.
To support the EP, hannah will perform at the Teen Vogue Summit in Los Angeles on September 20, delivering an intimate live set as part of the magazine’s annual event–a dynamic, day-long experience that brings together influential cultural figures, industry leaders, and changemakers.
She will then hit the road for her most ambitious live venture yet, The Misunderstood World Tour, beginning October 20 in Orlando. The 28-date North American run includes stops in New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and more, with additional international dates to be announced soon. The tour will showcase hannah’s immersive live performance with songs from both The Misunderstood EP and The Abysmal EP.
