Ezra introduces ‘Intermission’ | Nostalgia, piano-pop, and emotional weight shape this compelling new release
Ezra shares a compelling new single, “Intermission,” marking the beginning of his upcoming debut album era. Released through TAG Music, the track blends emotional storytelling with early-2000s piano-pop influences, capturing a mood that’s both intimate and expansive.
With “Intermission”, Ezra channels heartache and reflection through melodic arrangements and striking lyrics. It’s a song born from real-life emotion, written during a moment of unexpected reconnection.
“‘Intermission’ was written about the one person that, no matter how long it’s been, will always be who you compare every new relationship to,” Ezra shares. “My FIRST EVER girlfriend that I haven’t seen since high school visited LA this past February and it reminded me how everyone else I meet could never fill the void she left. It got me wishing that the time we’re spending apart now is just an intermission for what I’m yearning for — a happy ending for us.”
The song also launches a creative visual component: a mockumentary directed by David Mazouz that serves as both self-satire and emotional storytelling. Each new single will unveil a new segment of the mockumentary, forming a layered narrative that builds toward the 2026 album release. The series features appearances by Gabe Saporta, Morgan Cohen, and Mazouz himself.
Ezra’s live performances—shaped by past tours with Carlie Hanson and Braden Bales—are known for their emotional depth and audience connection. His ability to fuse nostalgic musical references with a Gen-Z perspective continues to define his unique lane in the alt-pop world.
As “Intermission” leads the way into a full-length debut, Ezra’s combination of heartfelt lyrics, cinematic presentation, and artistic vision makes this project one to watch.
