“ESPEJO” by EthanUno brings indie-electronic pop to life with vivid production and candid lyrics.
EthanUno drops his latest bilingual single “ESPEJO,” a self-contained sonic world that combines playful production with cutting lyrics. Released on Friends Keep Secrets / Interscope, the track is another step forward in the artist’s multi-genre journey following the necesidad EP.
The song feels bright on the surface, but dig deeper and the emotional weight becomes clear. Backed by a lighthearted melody of fuzzy bass, neon synths, and catchy rhythms, EthanUno tells a different story lyrically.
With lines like, “Baby, si me mientes, seré tu espejo,” and “Mirror mirror on the wall, you the baddest of them all… your body hot, your heart is cold,” he pulls from fantasy tropes to explore a love that turns sour.
Of the creative process, he says: “With ‘ESPEJO’ I was just tryna write the dumbest song I could. Like, dumb enough to make me laugh. It honestly could have been even dumber, but I ain’t even mad. There are more songs to be written!”
“ESPEJO” is the latest in a streak of inventive singles including May’s “EL CAPARAZÓN,” a breezy track that spans from bedroom pop to club beats, and April’s emotionally sharp “MALA MÍA.”
Known for his DIY mentality and fast-paced creation cycle, EthanUno remains committed to keeping things raw and immediate: “I’m huge on capturing the entire feeling of the song and its release while it still feels fresh; it’s like serving food while it’s still hot.”
