Emily James releases “Underdog,” an angsty track from her August EP “Summer Nostalgia”
Emily James offers fans a raw and cathartic glimpse into her forthcoming EP Summer Nostalgia with the release of “Underdog.” The new track, now streaming with an accompanying video, delves into the emotional turbulence of adolescence.
Built around a rock-infused arrangement, “Underdog” highlights the complexities of young love and relational conflict. “The sound of ‘Underdog’ really leans into that teenage angst and the release of all the frustrations you’ve been trying to bury,” Emily explains.
The song’s vivid imagery and impassioned vocals illustrate a relationship reaching a critical point: “When it’s hell, yeah it’s hell… I’m holding on to what could be, but would it be better?”
Emily continues to tell a coming-of-age story through music. Following “Under the Influence” and “Suburbia,” this single further establishes the themes of personal growth and reflection that shape Summer Nostalgia, set to arrive August 15.
Coinciding with the EP’s rollout, Emily is set to join Donovan Woods on tour starting June 19. The series of shows will bring her to cities including Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
