British artist Bellah Mae kicks off a confident new chapter with her 2025 single “Bad Day To Be My Ex.”
Bellah Mae returns with a bold statement of intent in her new single “Bad Day To Be My Ex,” out now. Fusing slick, R&B-tinged pop with fearless lyricism, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter launches into 2025 with clarity, strength, and undeniable presence.
Co-written in Nashville with Brigetta Truitt and produced by Brett Truitt, the track is a direct yet empowering response to heartbreak. “I’ve really learned that I don’t have to be too strong all the time — I can still be soft,” Bellah shares. “But if you break my heart… I’ll write an absolutely savage song about you.”
Having garnered over 100K cumulative streams, co-signed by Tate McRae, and sold out two UK headline tours, Bellah has emerged as one of the UK’s most exciting new pop voices. Her work draws from early exposure to country music and storytelling, now channeled through a bold, confessional lens.
In “Bad Day To Be My Ex,” Bellah adds a cultural wink by referring to herself as a “Gen-Z Pamela Anderson,” citing Pamela and Dolly Parton as inspirations: “These are powerhouse women who have had to prove themselves over and over.”
Following the more introspective tone of her 2024 EP Never Waste A Heartbreak, Bellah’s new music signals evolution. “I’ve realised that the way I process things — breakups, changes, different life phases — has evolved,” she says. “There’s a freedom in that, and you can hear it in the music.”
