Behind You are back with “Cell,” a gritty punk/digital single and video shot in LA and Vegas. Watch it now.
Sydney-based trio Behind You have re-emerged with “Cell,” a confrontational new single that blends punk energy with digital textures and a powerful sense of psychological duality.
The track features sharp, chantable lyrics:
“How do you even communicate with yourself? Is dealing with the inner critic a process of eliminating them, or befriending them? Stargaze all the puddles in the cave, pull my muzzle on my face, never say whatever I said…”
Accompanying the release is a surrealist video filmed over several days in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, directed by Gabriel Gasparinatos alongside vocalist Harry Welsh. The narrative follows two mirrored personas in conflict—caught in a toxic cycle on the casino floor and racing down Mulholland Drive in a slime-green Mustang.
Behind You’s sound echoes the controlled fury of acts like Dreamcrusher and Total Control, combining alt-hip hop vocals, punk drive, and unsettling digitalism. Their approach blurs the line between sonic rebellion and artistic precision.
The band—Frank Fisher, Joe Goddard, and Dylan Clay—have earned acclaim from VICE, triple j, Acclaim, and Rolling Stone, and built a name through collaborations with the likes of Teether, 1300’s Rako, and BAYANG (tha Bushranger).
Their explosive live presence has seen them perform at BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney, drawing praise for their ability to captivate and confront in equal measure.
