Ally Salort delivers her latest single “Horror Movie,” an emotionally resonant release. Out now via Disruptor/RCA.
Singer-songwriter Ally Salort has released “Horror Movie,” her latest single via Disruptor Records/RCA Records. Known for her emotional candor and atmospheric style, Salort taps into a cinematic metaphor to explore the complexities of returning to toxic love.
“Horror movie is one big metaphor for going back to a person that will hurt you every time,” Ally explains. “Opening the door (the relationship) that everyone around you is screaming for you to not open; very similar to the girl that dies first in every scary film. I had the lines ‘I’m damned if I do but I’ll be more damned if I don’t’ and from there we wrote the chorus. Can’t wait for people to hear the whole thing!”
Growing up in Maplewood, New Jersey, Ally’s interest in music began early, inspired by her brother’s musical performances. After taking vocal lessons at age seven, she later earned a spot in a talent search that brought her to Los Angeles. That experience helped kickstart her online music journey, eventually building a fanbase on YouTube and TikTok.
Having just wrapped a European tour with Mackenzy Mackay, Ally is now working on her debut EP. Her influences, which include Ariana Grande and Fiona Apple, are evident in her layered approach to songwriting—offering fans emotionally rich, highly relatable music.
