Aidan Bissett explores emotional vulnerability and alt-pop textures on his latest single “ricochet.”
Aidan Bissett unveils his latest single “ricochet,” a raw and reflective alt-pop release that continues to define his evolving sound. Out now via Capitol Records, the track reveals Bissett at his most emotionally exposed — caught between detachment and desire, independence and entanglement.
“ricochet” is layered with warm bass, electric guitar riffs, and splashy drums, all supporting a vocal performance that climbs toward catharsis. Produced by Andrew Wells and mixed by Tony Hoffer, the track took over six months to complete. “Not until we re-recorded all of the instruments in a live room to give a full-band feel did it reach its potential,” says Bissett.
The lyrics offer a sharp inner monologue about allowing someone back in, even when it hurts: “You always come back to say goodbye… So innocent but it’s just all by design.”
“ricochet” follows January’s “are we in love yet?,” another track steeped in emotional contradiction and layered production. Together, the singles provide a powerful preview of Bissett’s forthcoming debut album.
With over 250 million global streams and a billion TikTok video views, Aidan Bissett’s rise has been swift. He’s earned accolades from Spotify Pop Rising, TIDAL Magazine, and Rolling Stone, who named him a contender for “Pop’s Next Big Thing.” On stage, he’s supported Valley, Claire Rosinkranz, and Lauv, while selling out his own headlining runs across the U.S. and abroad.
“ricochet” adds new depth to Bissett’s catalog — proof that even in pain, there’s melody.
