Aidan Bissett is stepping into his next musical chapter with the release of “are we in love yet?” The infectious new single, out now via Capitol Records, highlights the rising star’s signature blend of indie-pop and new wave influences, setting the stage for his much-anticipated debut album.
Produced by Andrew Wells (The Vaccines, Biig Piig) and mixed by Tony Hoffer (Albert Hammond Jr., Phoenix), “are we in love yet?” explodes with dynamic energy, featuring jagged guitars, shimmering synths, and punchy drums. Lyrically, Bissett explores the anxieties of forming connections, delivering a massive hook: “I wanna know, I wanna know, are we in love yet?”
Bissett reflects on the personal inspiration behind the song, explaining, “‘are we in love yet?’ was a question I found myself asking anytime I had the opportunity to grow close to somebody — even if it was just a friend. Writing this song was the first step in realizing how addicted I was to finding connection in my life.”
