Multi-talented composer, songwriter, and musician Lettie is back with her latest album, “Pirate Lover,” her sixth full-length release. Comprising nine tracks, this new work was primarily recorded in her home during brief interludes between her day job, which involves assisting a prominent ex-politician, prisoner, and priest.

“Pirate Lover” is a deeply personal project that draws listeners through a lens of nostalgia, reflecting on Lettie’s experiences that include surviving a near-death incident, confronting family gambling issues, and witnessing the transformation of her childhood surroundings due to the construction of a massive new power station. Amidst these trials, the album also weaves in her romantic connection with an ex-racing car driver, offering a poignant emotional depth.

Lettie’s production choices stand out for their distinctiveness; she has opted for a collection of unconventional instruments and a minimalistic production style. Inspired by musical legends like Molly Drake and her fondness for classic Blues, she initially wrote the album at her kitchen table with her acoustic guitar. Collaborating with talented musicians, including Dave Barbarossa, known for his work with Bow Wow Wow and Adam Ant, Lettie crafted an album marked by its authenticity and rawness, contrasting with modern recording trends heavily reliant on digital methods. The mixing of the album was skillfully completed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Cameron Craig, ensuring a polished yet genuine sound.

This fruitful partnership produced two albums, “Age of Solo” and “Everyman,” garnered her significant exposure, including performances at BBC venues such as Maida Vale and Glastonbury.

With the release of “Pirate Lover,” Lettie not only marks a significant milestone in her artistic evolution but also lays the groundwork for future musical explorations.
