Ookay shares ‘Proxima Nova’ | A festival-minded EP of trap, bass, UKG, and club energy | Out now on Dim Mak

Ookay channels reinvention and power in his newest EP Proxima Nova, a 4-track body of work now released via Dim Mak. With each song, the producer explores a different facet of the electronic spectrum—bridging his past sounds with the future of his artistry.

The EP’s title is a fitting reflection of its theme. “Proxima translates to “next” while Nova translates to “new”; a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness. I wanted this music to show what’s next and give brightness to my sound,” Ookay shares. “It also pays homage to a font that has been used throughout the years and has established itself while still being reinvented which is a reflection of my career. Bringing a rebirth of everything that has established Ookay up till this point.”

From the very first track, Proxima Nova grabs attention. “Move Ya Body” combines dancehall-styled vocal chops with a blend of bass and trap that feels both nostalgic and cutting-edge. The second track, “Speakers Knockin,” brings UKG vibes and house grooves, layered with funky keyboard hits and rhythmic precision.

“All I Ever Wanted” turns up the energy with festival trap textures and soulful melodies. The final song, “Lose Control,” closes out the EP on a high with sweeping vocals that dissolve into deep, bold drops—an emotional and technical highlight.

Across all four tracks, Ookay delivers an experience that is not only packed with energy, but also hints at a clear artistic reset. Proxima Nova isn’t just a return—it’s a reintroduction, marked by intention, sound diversity, and creative brightness.
