Beks blends vulnerability and club-pop power in debut EP ‘Hard Gloss’ and track ‘Who You Kidding’.
Introducing a new era for Beks, her debut EP Hard Gloss presents a confident blend of cinematic club-pop and reflective lyricism. Released today with the single Who You Kidding, the EP affirms Beks’ transition from behind-the-scenes writer to full-fledged solo artist.
Hard Gloss is an emotionally layered journey, produced in collaboration with PALMR. The project was refined by mixer Tim Rowkins and mastering engineer Robin Schmidt, ensuring both impact and clarity.
“I’d spent so much time writing for and with others, I needed to find my own voice again. There was no safety net this time. Just me, backing myself. ‘Hard Gloss’ is what came out of that,” says Beks.
The new single Who You Kidding offers a sonic intersection between retro glam and current pop, exploring themes of identity, deception, and release.
“It’s the sound of high-voltage empowerment. Part of it was written under a rusty umbrella on my manager’s balcony in the middle of a lightning storm in London. I dropped all creative filters and let the truth drive the song. That bridge? It’s my proudest moment,” she shares.
Tracks like Melodrama, Butter, and I Knew A Girl further showcase her range—from vulnerability to playful gloss—positioning her as a multi-faceted voice in modern pop.
Live, Beks has left her mark from Australia’s Mardi Gras to Berlin’s queer heart. Hard Gloss cements her artistic voice—vibrant, powerful, and entirely her own.
