“Typa” stars GloRilla, Keyshia Cole, and Xavier Legette in a soulful video directed by Benny Boom.
GloRilla’s latest video “Typa” offers a fresh take on love and loyalty, blending cinematic visuals and emotional themes in a powerful new release. Directed by Benny Boom, the video adds narrative depth and star power, featuring R&B veteran Keyshia Cole and NFL athlete Xavier Legette in key roles.
Sampling Keyshia Cole’s 2005 hit “Love,” GloRilla builds on its emotional core with sharp lyricism that speaks to resilience and commitment. The visual storyline centers on a strong bond under pressure, with Xavier Legette portraying Glo’s unwavering partner. Their connection is put to the test after Glo’s fictional arrest, bringing the concept of loyalty to the forefront.
Cole’s role is one of wisdom and support—providing heartfelt guidance as Glo navigates love and hardship. Her influence, both in the sample and in the visual, adds weight to the story, uniting two powerful voices across eras of music.
“Typa” comes during a banner period for GloRilla. Her 2024 debut album GLORIOUS earned her the highest debut week for a female rapper and delivered chart-toppers like “I LUV HER” with T-Pain and “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” featuring Sexyy Red. The project peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and became the best-selling female rap album of the year.
Since then, she’s appeared on high-profile features in 2025 and completed a 21-city headlining tour. With upcoming performances at the BET Awards, Summer Jam, and ESSENCE Festival, GloRilla shows no signs of slowing down.
She also received the Powerhouse Award at Billboard’s Women in Music event, cementing her position as a leading voice in hip-hop.
