CATTY is back with “Joyride,” a dramatic, heartfelt single about falling hard against better judgment.
CATTY, the Welsh glam-pop breakout of 2024, returns with her first new single since her breakout EP Healing Out Of Spite. “Joyride,” out now via AWAL, premiered on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop and captures the wild emotional rush of diving back into love, even when you know better.
Written during a period of “pure panic,” Joyride blends sweeping orchestration with blistering vulnerability. “I was done—love had chewed me up and spat me out—but I couldn’t stay away from her,” CATTY says of the track’s inspiration.
“I’ve never been casual about anything and I would have followed her into the depths of hell,” she adds. “So Joyride is basically me saying, I’m all in, please don’t hurt me.”
With emotional lyricism and a theatrical sonic palette, Joyride explores heartbreak in real time. A sapphic, Thelma & Louise-inspired music video starring Amy Spalding is also in the works.
Following a whirlwind year—including a sold-out Lafayette headline show, a support slot for Stevie Nicks, and praise from NME, CLASH, DIY, and Official Charts—CATTY’s return confirms her status as one of pop’s brightest new voices.
Catch her live this spring and summer at The Great Escape (May 15), CloseUp Festival (May 22), Birmingham Pride (May 24), and Latitude Festival in July.
