“Bread (butter version)” is the lead single from SOFI TUKKER’s Brazil-inspired album “butter”.
SOFI TUKKER return with “Bread (butter version),” featuring the legendary Seu Jorge. The silky new single reinterprets the title track from their 2024 album BREAD and offers the first look into butter, their next studio album arriving May 16.
Known for blending cultures and genres, the duo created butter in Brazil, recording with local musicians and exploring MPB, samba, bolero, and reggae. Their organic, acoustic approach stands in contrast to their high-energy electronic roots.
“Bread (butter version)” showcases an inspired language switch: Sophie sings in Portuguese, Seu Jorge in English. “He explained how much it meant to him that I had taken the time to learn Portuguese and sing in his language,” says Sophie. “I was blown away.”
The result is a sensual, deeply musical collaboration that merges jazz stylings with lyrical intimacy—setting the tone for the genre-expanding world of butter.
The duo’s schedule includes BottleRock, Breakaway, and a jazz-centered set at the Newport Jazz Festival, along with ongoing activism through partnerships like PLUS1 and Novo Fogo’s The Un-Endangered Forest™.
