MARINA releases powerful single “CUNTISSIMO” and confirms new album “PRINCESS OF POWER” is on the way.
Pop innovator and lyricist MARINA returns with a new artistic statement: “CUNTISSIMO,” a commanding single celebrating autonomy and feminine power. It arrives with the announcement of her sixth studio album, PRINCESS OF POWER, due June 6 via Queenie Records/BMG.
With a chorus that pays homage to iconic women—“Salma Hayek in the sun / Louise and Thelma on the run”—“CUNTISSIMO” reasserts MARINA’s ability to craft lyrics that feel both cultural and intimate. “So often, women don’t think they’re allowed to feel their sexuality in a way that doesn’t involve how it looks for men,” she says. “They feel that it’s been co-opted.”
Directed by Olivia de Camps, the video for “CUNTISSIMO” is as vivid as the song itself, offering a visual extension of MARINA’s new world.
“CUNTISSIMO” is the third release from PRINCESS OF POWER, following “CUPID’S GIRL” and “BUTTERFLY.” The latter, MARINA’s first new track in over two years, has already amassed over 15 million streams globally.
She’ll celebrate the release live this summer, performing at World Pride Music Festival (June 6), Governors Ball (June 7), Bonnaroo (June 13), Lollapalooza (August 2), and Osheaga (August 3).
With PRINCESS OF POWER, MARINA continues to lead with honesty, vision, and unmistakable voice. “CUNTISSIMO” is available now; pre-orders for the full album are open.
